Impedance affects a speaker's load on an amplifier and is an important spec when matching speakers and amplifiers.
There are two ways you can wire a 4×12 (or 4×10 for that matter), the main one is Series/Parallel: 4 X 8 Ohm Speaker = 8 Ohm Load; 4 X 16 Ohm Speaker = 16 Ohm Load.
28 Απρ 2013 · 8 volts of signal across 8 ohms will result in 1 amp of current flow. 1 amp x 8 volts will be 8 watts. 8 volts of signal across 4 ohms will result in 2 amps current flow. 2 amps x 8 volts will be 16 watts. Now most SS amps will output a signal cleanly to some given voltage.

3 Δεκ 2008 · Settled on a toroid for 50bucks, customised the turns ratio to 1.41, to give a impedance ratio of 2X. So this gives a 8 0hm load from the 4 ohm series voice coils, and the amp is happily driving, with better control and less distortion. Subjectively, there is much less boom in the bass, and it blends much better with my mains.
