7 Αυγ 2008 · Dutchman Maarten Van Der Weijden won the men’s 10km marathon, while in the women’s race, the title went to Russia’s Larisa Ilchenko. In BMX – short for Bicycle Moto Cross – it was France’s Anne-Caroline Chausson who became the first Olympic champion. For the men, this honour went to Latvia’s Maris Strombergs.

In addition to Bolt and the Jamaican men’s 4×100 relay, Shelly-Ann Fraser won the women’s 100, leading a Jamaican medal sweep, Veronica Campbell-Brown won the women’s 200, followed by Kerron Stewart who won a bronze, Shericka Williams took bronze in the women’s 400, and Melaine Walker won the women’s 400 hurdles.
