1 Σεπ 2024 · Crab & Ghost Shrimp Regulations. Valid Sep. 1, 2024 through Aug. 31, 2025. Note: It is unlawful to place, fish or leave a crab trap or crab trap component in the coastal waters of the state from February 21 – March 2, 2025. Crabs may be taken for personal use (bait or food).
The season begins in the fall and continues until fishermen have reached their preset harvest quota. The Season Fishermen are legally entitled to go after opilio crab (Chionoecetes opilio) after October 15, when the king crab season opens.

However, for 10 days out of the month of February, “It is unlawful to place, fish or leave a crab trap or crab trap component in the coastal waters of the state” during the Annual Texas Abandoned Crab Trap Removal Program.

14 Μαΐ 2010 · I went crabbing in a tidal pond on the Island this morning and had the best day of the season. Got to the pond about 7am and pulled in my first 7" crab before I got all my lines baited. In an hour and a half I had 17 keepers, a dozen of which were over 6 inches with three of these being greater than 7".
10 Αυγ 2024 · When crabbing in Texas it is legal to keep crabs under five inches for bait use. The number of less than five-inch crabs you have must be no more than 5% of your entire catch. You also must have the smaller bait crabs in a separate cooler or holding container.
