Men's singles. Andy Murray defeated the defending champion Novak Djokovic in the final, 7–6 (12–10), 7–5, 2–6, 3–6, 6–2 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2012 US Open. It was his first major title, following four previous runner-up finishes also making him the first British man to win a singles major since Fred Perry in 1936.
The 2012 US Open was a tennis tournament played on the outdoor hard courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Park, of Queens, New York City, United States. It was played from August 27 to September 10. [1]
