270 vs 308: Recoil. Recoil is going to be an important factor for most shooters, as lower recoil will often translate to increase downrange accuracy. The less the rifle kicks your shoulder, the less likely you are to jerk the trigger and send your shot off target.

While recoil is more or less comparable between the two cartridges, typical .308 Winchester loads do not have as flat of a trajectory as typical .270 loads. However, the .308 is available with heavier bullets than the .270 and is available in a wider range of bullet weights and models.

6 Αυγ 2024 · Although the .308 generates slightly more recoil energy (21.7 ft.lb) compared to the .270 (19.6 ft.lb), this difference is likely minor, especially for experienced shooters. Naturally, different types of rounds for each cartridge can exhibit varying levels of recoil.
