7 Σεπ 2019 · I rotated the engine and checked the cam firing order - it's the 289 firing order 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. I know with the engine sputtering and backfiring when I attempted to start it, the plugs won't tell me much, but the front 6 look great, the back two are pretty dark.
13 Ιαν 2020 · There are only 2 firing orders for the SBF- 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 (early 289/302) and 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 (5.0 and 351W). The firing order is determined by the camshaft. If you put a 5.0 or 351W cam in a 289 you have to change the plug wires in the cap to match the firing order.

29 Μαρ 2011 · Install the cap and then the wires following the firing order and cylinder numbering as mentioned previously. This will get the timing close enough to start and fine tune. You don't have to have the #1 wire in the cap tower that is marked #1.
23 Οκτ 2023 · The Toyota 4.6L 1UR firing order is 1-8-7-3-6-5-4-2, which is not the usual firing pattern for a V8 or a small block V8 for that matter. Toyota used a particular engine block and cylinder head design for the “UR” family of engines, which is also one of the reasons why the firing order is so specific.
