25 Ιουν 2003 · The traditional 289 order is as has been posted. Unless you have a late model 5.0L or 351W/5.8L camshaft in there (you could), that's the one you use. Remember, the distributor rotor turns counterclockwise facing it...
13 Ιαν 2020 · Documented correct firing order for 289 should be 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 rotating counterclockwise. (1 is at top distributor cap clip) My' '65 stock 289 is 1-6-3-7-8-2-5-4 rotating counter-clockwise (1 is at top distributor cap clip). My 289, starts, idles, and drives fine with this firing order.

7 Σεπ 2019 · I rotated the engine and checked the cam firing order - it's the 289 firing order 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. I know with the engine sputtering and backfiring when I attempted to start it, the plugs won't tell me much, but the front 6 look great, the back two are pretty dark.
