2 Ιουλ 2009 · Replace the rear derailer with that and keep the front. It'll be a little tougher to get the chain tension ideal, but its doable as long as you don't have a huge range up front. It'll give you a much better range (than a 1x1), but it's probably as close to a 3 speed as you can get.

If you want to keep something like the original, Sturmey-Archer makes a cassette 3 speed hub. Seems like that would be the closest thing to the old SRAM hub. I think it's an 8/9/10 freehub but you could put a spacer on that or upgrade your derailleur/shifter to an 8+ speed.
It will accept 9 speed cassettes or can be run with a single speed with a converter. (we can offer the single speed kit for an extra price.) The included shifter will allow you to pair the device with almost any standard 1:1 derailler on the market.
