Install the cam phaser/sprocket and measure camshaft end play with a dial indicator. If the end play is not within spec, (0.0031 - 0.0114 in.) remove the cam and check for and remove any debris or burrs. If the cam retainer plate appears worn, replace it. Reinstall the cam phaser/sprocket with the timing chain. Make sure to align the timing marks.
