  2. In this article, student class teachers’ conceptions of teaching history were examined using data (n=92) consisting of students’ writings at the beginning of their history studies. A phenomenographic approach was used to identify and characterize different conceptions.

These curricular contestations addressed the appropriate scope, learning outcomes, spatial scale, and relative disciplinarity of the study of history in schools.

  4. It is necessary to state categorically that the full implications of teaching and learning of history in schools have not been in the secondary school curriculum for a long time. The content has evolved gradually into what it is today, having in it the relevance of learning indigenous history.
