26 Σεπ 2004 · Stock 4 bolt mains may give you slightly more hp over the 2 bolt block. Have seen stock 4 bolt caps live to around 700 hp unless they were built wrong or detonated. Over 750 hp with spray or a power added then the block must be strengthened with good caps, block fill, etc. Hope this helps.

26 Ιαν 2016 · I am finding several online pontiac websites that list the 400 RAIII as having 4-bolt mains, 744 cam, and D-port head "12" for 1970, rated at 366HP. To contradict my earlier post, it appears that the Wallace Racing site is correct in listing the "12" as the RAIII head for 1970.
Putting together a Pontiac 400 for my buddy's 74 Firebird. Upon tearing down, we found that one of the main bolts was different, and significantly shorter than the rest. Perfect time to replace old fasteners, and upgrade to studs, which would allow us to install a windage tray, right? Turns out it's not quite that easy.
