Stainless Steel 440C (X105CrMo17):Cutting conditions, Recommended Carbide Grades, Equivalent Material Standards, and Chemical Composition.
Alloy 440C is a high carbon, hardenable, martensitic grade of stainless steel, which offers high wear resistance, combined with a moderate resistance to corrosion. A successful PM (powder metallurgy) version of the alloy should exhibit a high sintered density, at least greater than 7.60 g/cm3, i.e., above 98% of full theoretical density.
Alloy 440C has the highest carbon content of all 440 series stainless steel and is more readily available than 440B. The product is highly suitable for use in applications where greater strength and moderate corrosion resistance is a consideration.
18 Οκτ 2024 · 440 stainless steel is widely used in industries where strength, hardness, and wear resistance are critical. Some common applications include: Knife-Making : 440 stainless steel, particularly 440C, is a popular material for making knives and blades due to its ability to maintain a sharp edge.
