This puzzle is packaged with a tray for the 4-piece solution and the 5th piece loose; perhaps to guide the solvers thinking away from the 5-piece solution. The directions on a 4.5 inch square card inserted into the back give an interesting discussion of the geometry:

The first puzzle uses all five pieces to make a square. Hint 1 : Different sizes of squares can be made with some or all of the pieces. However, a square can be made that uses all five pieces, side by side, with none of the pieces on top or over lapping another piece.

A box with 5 pieces made of spheres - the pieces fit in the box with or without a single sphere piece. They also can form a square-based pyramid. It is called the 13-14 puzzle since with the single sphere there are 14 pieces and 13 without.
24 Αυγ 2022 · Every solution is given a 60-letter ID by listing, line-by-line from the top-left to the bottom-right, the name of the piece covering each square of the puzzle. The solutions are listed in alphabetical order by ID. Hole squares are indicated by period. For example:
This is a classic puzzle precision cut from 1/4" thick alder wood. Very interesting in that 4 of the 5 pieces will make a perfect square. Also all 5 of the pieces will make a slightly larger square. Pretty tricky and somewhat addicting as you set out to do the 5 pc square. MEasures 4" x 4" x 1/4" when solved.

Usually, you know what the moves are but have to figure out the proper order in which to make them. (c) Sliding Block: Your classic sliding block puzzle is a flat square with space for 16 (4x4) little squares, but leaves one of the 16 empty.
