The Cosmic Calendar is a method to visualize the chronology of the universe, scaling its currently understood age of 13.8 billion years to a single year in order to help intuit it for pedagogical purposes in science education or popular science.

In this activity, students will equate the full span of cosmic time with one calen-dar year, and see where di erent cosmic events fall on a 12-month time scale. What Will Students Do? Students first brainstorm about the key events in the history of the universe and then put them in order.
