Some one dropped the distributor way off, and instead of pulling it and dropping it back in again, they just rotated the wires ... no biggy.

Just to confirm- cylinders 1-4 are on the passenger side of the engine front to rear and 5-8 are on the driver side front to rear.
26 Μαΐ 2017 · Just make sure the wires are installed on the distributor AND the wires go to the correct plugs of the new firing order. Also make sure that #1 on the distributor is located on the compression stroke of #1 cylinder. Then you should be good to go.

26 Ιαν 2011 · help getting my 66 running-need firing order for a 1966 289 C code also changed the oil and filter(looked like it had not been changed since 66 lol tough as hell to get off.) when i changed the oil the old oil smelled like it had gas in it. any help?
The 289 Windsor V8. This is Ford’s V8 90 degree overhead valve engine that everyone wanted in the first few Mustang years. It was dependable, economical to maintain, had adequate power and was easily modified. In 1965 through 1966, you could get the 289 in either a 2 barrel or four barrel version.
