7 Σεπ 2005 · My son and I converted his '66 from a C4 to a 4 speed and left the 2.80 rear end in for financial reasons. Now I think it might be glazing my clutch disc and a big cause of chatter. What rear end ratio would you recommend for his Mustang considering gas cost?

3 Ιαν 2010 · 1966 Mustang rearend ratio. From factory they came with a 3.00, 3.25 or a 3.50. To be sure after 44 years, have to count wheel revs vs the driveshaft. It's most likely a 3.00, most were. Check the door tag and if it has a 1 under where is says axle then it's a 3.00.
Re: 66 289 With. C4 Auto Best Rear End Ratio? According to Mustang Steves FAQ section on rear ratio selection you need at least a 9:1 torque multiplication ratio for a good street performer and perhaps should take this into consideration as well as highway driving.
