The 7.62x39mm CZ shot accurately with handloaded bullets of dif-ferent diameters. These bullets shot well (left to right): Speer 125 TNT (.308), Hornady 123 Spire Point (.310) and Speer 125 spitzer (.311). Wolf cartridges cost 46¢ per round.

The German’s are fielding a new breed of self-loading rifle, the Maschinenkarabiner 42 (W) or MKb42 developed by Carl Walther. It fires the 7.92x33mm Kurz (short) at a velocity of 2,450 ft/sec from a 30-round magazine and has a cyclic rate of 600rpm.
Multiply 7.62 millimeters by the conversion factor listed in the Speer Rifle & Pistol Reloading Manual 13 and you get .2999994 inch, which for all practical purposes is .30 inch. If you pull the bullet from a 7.62x39 cartridge and measure the diameter, it will be somewhere between .308 and .311 inch.
3 Φεβ 2018 · Reloading 7.62x39 ammo for sporting or military? The 7.62x39 can be found chambered in the sleek little CZ 527 bolt action (top) or in any number of foreign surplus SKS carbines (above). This is an interesting little cartridge that is applicable to single-shot, long-barrel pistols.
CZ 7.62x39, despite being .003 inch narrower than the CZ rifle’s .311-inch bore. Autoloading rifles, such as the imported SKS, are by far the most popular rifles and carbines for the cartridge.
