25 Ιουν 2017 · Tolley was best known for big fowling pieces; plain four and eight bores, many of which are still in regular use. To discover a rare, elegant and beautifully crafted gem like the little 12-bore in the photograph is a treat indeed.
The top-lever operates Tolley 1877 patent ‘Screw Grip’ third bite and double Purdey under-bolt. Barrels are on-face and jointing appears good. Barrels are of dovetail lump construction, Birmingham (post 1925) nitro proof for 3 ¼ Tons and 2oz shot.
