Tolley was an English gunmaker of some notoriety, mostly noted for large bore waterfowlers. From about 1894 through 1903 they occupied a London address and that was when this gun was made.

17 Μαρ 2009 · Going back to the original question and a value of $1200 - that is way too low for an 8 bore double (or single) in usable condition, even black powder proofed. Take a look at www.holtandcompany.co.uk for prices in Britain and you could add at least 50% for price stateside.
25 Ιουν 2017 · It was a bar-action gun by J&W Tolley, with rounded profile bar, quality damascus barrels, early, straight-drive strikers and ‘C’ scroll hammers, (later hammer guns have the strikers at an angle, as they are less prone to stick in soft centre-fire cartridge caps that way) and very tasteful full-coverage engraving.
