19 Μαΐ 2007 · The 36” fluid steel barrel has excellent mirror bore, 3 ¼” chamber, .860 bore diameter with extra full choke has only a few handling marks and 98% blue. The mechanics are excellent, with a crisp trigger, strong springs, and perfect screws.
Wood-to-metal and metal-to-metal fit remains tight throughout. Pistol-grip stock with 14 ¾” to centre, over a perished Silver’s pad and spacer. Steel grip cap and blued guard. The top-lever operates Tolley 1877 patent ‘Screw Grip’ third bite and double Purdey under-bolt. Barrels are on-face and jointing appears good.
17 Μαρ 2009 · I have fired this gun and it has 34" Damascus barrels and was reproofed in 2001 for nitro. However, he only shoots black powder in it. This gun is a very strong 90% with the maker's hard case, containers & tools.

25 Ιουν 2017 · It was a bar-action gun by J&W Tolley, with rounded profile bar, quality damascus barrels, early, straight-drive strikers and ‘C’ scroll hammers, (later hammer guns have the strikers at an angle, as they are less prone to stick in soft centre-fire cartridge caps that way) and very tasteful full-coverage engraving.
3 Οκτ 2023 · By the late 19th century, the barrels on 8-gauge shotguns were made of fluid steel and able to take the pressure of smokeless powder. That meant the 8 gauge could deliver a load of lead shot in the range of 2 to 2.5 ounces.
