27 Μαρ 2023 · Running the engine low on oil and “money shifting” a manual transmission (catastrophic over-rev due to downshifting) seem to be more common culprits for engine failure. RTV seems to be something engineers anticipated and accounted for. (It was a problem in the first generation BRZ/FR-S/86, too.)

I got my ‘13 BRZ in 2015 with 15k miles, turbo’ed it that same year. Now it has 95k miles and was my DD pre-pandemic. I don’t track it, just some spirited driving at times. No issues. The car in general is reliable but as always YMMV. It depends on how the car has been treated.
