9 Parachute Squadron RE (often abbreviated to '9 Sqn' [9]) is an airborne squadron of the British Army's Corps of Royal Engineers. It is part of 23 Parachute Engineer Regiment based at Rock Barracks in Woodbridge, Suffolk and provides close engineer support to 16 Air Assault Brigade Combat Team.
9 Parachute Squadron has retained its airborne role continuously since 1942 and remains the longest serving in-role airborne unit in Airborne Forces. The Squadron’s history goes back to 1787, when the Chatham Company of “Royal Military Artificers” was raised at Chatham.
18 Μαΐ 2021 · 9 Para SF – Pirates. The unit was raised in 1966 as 9th Parachute Commando Battalion and now it is known as 9 Para SF. The unit is specialized in Mountain Warfare and Counter Insurgency/Counter Terrorism operations. These were of various colours and shapes which have not been formally recorded but have been remembered by veterans as: 7th Battalion: Green triangle with white border. 8th Battalion: Yellow disc. 9th Battalion: Skull and crossbones. 3rd Para Brigade: Celanese air recognition triangle of yellow attached to their smocks.
