19 Σεπ 2023 · To give you a straight-up answer, the Ford 5.8L 351W firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8, which is a different order from some other 5.8-liter engines we’ll discuss here. It was mainly because the brand wanted to optimize the engine firing noise and reduce the stress put on rod bearings and the oil pump.
21 Σεπ 2024 · While the Ford 302 engine is very similar to the 351 Windsor, the firing order was changed (1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 versus the 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8). The firing of the engine was changed to help quiet the engine and reduce the load on the main bearing.

Starting at the front of the engine, cylinders #1 and #2 fire first (1-3), cylinders #3 and #4 next (5-7), cylinders #5 and #6 after that (2-6), and lastly cylinders #7 and #8 (5-4-8).

The 351 Windsor was in a league of its own because of its heightened deck block, larger connecting rods and much “beefier” main bearing caps. It also had a very distinct firing order that was nothing similar to the standard Ford V8 firing order of 15426378.
