17 Μαρ 2018 · I've seen most russian captures stamped with the X above the serial number or on top of the receiver. it also lacks any stamp on the stock or any electo-penciled serial numbers indicative of russian captures.

9 Μαρ 2023 · Unit markings on a Mauser K98 can provide valuable information. They indicate the unit, formation and corps to which the rifle was issued. Examining them requires knowledge of the German Army’s organizational structure and insignia.
17 Απρ 2010 · I've been watching for a K98 for the past several months and located one this afternoon. It is however a Russian capture reworked version. DOT marked on top of receiver, German Nazi markings are intact. I recall seeing two of them with the usual eagle over swastika along with several other eagle type markings.
25 Δεκ 2019 · The S/243 designates the action was made in the Mauser AG Borsigwalde factory. The 7354 b are the serial number and letter block, 1-10000 serialed rifles for each letter block. The "X" designates a russian captured rifle.
23 Μαΐ 2023 · Fairly confident in saying it's a capture of some sort, likely Russian given the stamped serial number in the stock, electropenciled bolt and trigger guard and mismatched bottom metal.
These markings are almost certainly identified. If I recall correctly from memory, they are all relatively insignificant markings applied during refurb. Just proof/inspection marks.
