4 Ιουλ 2019 · Yes, the 9mm Luger shoots a smaller caliber and lighter bullet than the .45 Auto. However, it shoots it much faster, with much less recoil, and 9mm handguns have a higher capacity. Between these two, shot placement and bullet performance will matter more.
The best 9mm loads deliver terminal performance similar to many 45 ACP loads. Pistols in 9mm hold between 20 and 30 percent more ammo than .45 pistols.
The 9mm Luger has approximately half the felt recoil of the 45 ACP, and this is the third major point of debate in the 9mm vs 45 ACP battle. The 9mm cartridge fires a lighter bullet at a higher velocity, whereas the 45 ACP fires a heavier bullet at slower velocities.
Velocity and Recoil. Traveling between 950-1400 FPS, the 9mm has a higher muzzle velocity in part due to its smaller diameter and lighter bullets. The higher velocity of the 9mm can also contributes to increased accuracy and to slightly better bullet expansion (as a percent increase).
