21 Ιουν 2021 · Windows XP supported 32-bit icons (16.7 million colors and an alpha channel for transparency) for the first time. This allowed for translucent shadow and glassy effects as well as for smoother icon edges, thanks to improved anti-aliasing.
18 Ιουλ 2010 · 2001 Windows XP — Bright Soft Icons In 2001 Microsoft introduced, yet another, completely new OS system. Adopting a saturated color palette, the icons are rendered with a soft illustrative look that uses a single light source and a semi transparent drop shadow.
10 Ιουλ 2016 · The vector ones were extracted from the Windows XP tour, which I converted to SVG and then ICO. If I had a full collection of high-res/vector XP icons, I would have posted it here already. If I come across any more, I'll update here though.
21 Ιουν 2024 · As with Windows 2000, most XP system icons were either 32×32 or 48×48 pixels in size. Design-wise, XP’s icons offered a fresh start, with rounded corners, more color depth, and the use of smooth gradients, noticeably moving away from Kare’s Windows 3.0 icon style for the first time.
The icons were very detailed which was quite a challenge for us who were use to the simplistic Windows XP icons, but after a while we were able to achieve some quite impressive results. Altogether we created more than 1700 icons and about 1000 icon combinations.
