The new National School Library Standards reflect an evolution of AASL learning standards and program guidelines, now referred to as “Standards” and framed within a single text.
Standards for the 21st The NSLPY Award, guided by AASL's Empowering Learners: Guidelines for School Library Programs, recognizes exemplary school library programs that are fully integrated into the school's curriculum. The winning program receives a $10,000 prize donated by Follett. The deadline for the NSLPY Award is January 1.
The "Standards for the 21st-Century Learner" will be distributed to all attendees during the Opening General Session in Reno on Thursday. A complimentary PDF version will also be available on the AASL Web site starting Oct. 25 ( www.aasl.org).
The AASL Standards contain individual frameworks for learners, school librarians, and school libraries; these individual frameworks provide an overview of the standards’ content. The core components are then presented in integrated frameworks for each of the Shared Foundations.
