By 1954 the decline in cinema-going caused by the rise of television led to the cinema’s being partly converted back to a theatre and rechristened as the Theatre Royal Cinema. In 1958 it was renamed the ABC Plymouth. It is now a three-screen cinema known as the Reel Plymouth, run by Reel Cinemas.

The Reel, Union Place, Plymouth originally opened as the Royal in 1938, on the site of the early 19th century Theatre Royal. It was built for Associated British Cinemas and designed by their architect William Riddell Glen. It has a fine stone façade.

Walk towards the quay. All buses coming through the centre. Bus stops outside the cinema. Ferry services are available close by.
