Abraham and Sarah were happy in Canaan, but they still worried because they didn’t have a child. They had to trust the Lord’s promise that one day their family would grow and bless the whole earth. Genesis 13:12; 15:3–6
The Lord told Abraham and Sarah that they would have a son, Gen. 17:15–22; 18:1–14. Sarah bore his son Isaac, Gen. 21:2–3. Was commanded to sacrifice Isaac, Gen. 22:1–18. Sarah died and was buried, Gen. 23:1–2, 19. Abraham died and was buried, Gen. 25:8–10.

By doing so, we see the hand of God in Abraham’s request of Sarah, for Abraham’s actions initiated a confrontation between himself and Pharaoh. Because of Abraham’s obedience, God was able to introduce Himself to the Egyptian Pharaoh in power and glory. Even though it was only the first

23 Φεβ 2006 · Sarah’s action in giving her maid Hagar to Abraham is lauded as one of the great unselfish acts of her life in ancient sources and modern revelation. Abraham’s union with Hagar immediately produced a son, Ishmael. Was this then the fulfillment of the promises in which Sarah had for so long believed? Only time would tell.
