The first thing you need in order to get started is a Necronomicon, crafted like in the picture below: Most (if not all) information about things from the mod can be found in the Necronomicon. Apart from being a guide book to the mod, the Necronomicon is also serves as a catalyst for performing rituals.
It's not that long of a mod you can enter its first dimension in Age 2 and you can finish it in Age 3 it has some really awesome armour and weapons and a couple of good devices. It also allows you to semi automate the creation of diamonds in Age 3, and craft iron ore blocks for AS transmutation.
