5 Απρ 2024 · Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. The clinical presentation of CAP varies, ranging from mild pneumonia characterized by fever and productive cough to severe pneumonia characterized by respiratory distress and sepsis.
Generally, S. pneumoniae pneumonia, and other bacterial infections, should be treated for 7 to 10 d, and there are no data showing that a longer duration of therapy is needed for bacteremic patients, provided that the patient has had a good clinical response.
