  1. 23 Ιουν 2016 · Dismissal. If you do not maintain the minimum GPA of 2.5 while on probation, you may be dismissed from the College, and cannot attend any CUNY classes for a minimum of one semester. In general, only students who have demonstrably improved their academic readiness may appeal to the appropriate Committee on Course and Standing for reinstatement.

  2. Dismissed students are notified of their status through their CUNY First account. Students must be aware of the academic policies in the college catalog that will determine their dismissal.

  3. Students will be placed on academic probation at the end of the fall/spring semester in which the cumulative GPA falls below 2.0. While on academic probation, students may only register for 2 courses per semester until the cumulative GPA is raised to 2.0 or higher.

  4. The Counseling Services Center offers individual and group counseling to address obstacles that interfere with student success. We connect students to resources, help them identify goals and support them to meet their personal, academic and career objectives.

  5. A student will be placed on probation if the grade point average falls below 3.0. The student may be removed from probation when the G.P.A. reaches 3.0. A student will be dismissed if the G.P.A. remains below 3.0 for two semesters. Students may appeal their dismissal to the Committee on Course and Standing.

  6. MORE IMPORTANT POINTS If you were dismissed prior to this semester, document any academic work you have completed at another institution (i.e. transcript from another college). Explain what you’d do differently if accepted back to City Tech (study habits, utilizing resources).

  7. Undergraduate students dismissed from City Tech for failing to meet the college's academic standards may appeal to the committee on course and standards for readmission. This appeal process allows students to explain why they could not meet the college's academic standards and why those circumstances would no longer be obstacles to progress.
