25 Μαΐ 2022 · On new textured drywall, I spray it out with PVA, no backroll. Stand back a little farther, spray a little faster, no lines. One coat. I always two coat the topcoat, so it all works out great. For nicotine stains on the ceiling I’d lean towards an oil-based primer. It’s possible to cover ok with water based primer. I guess.
Their most commonly used primer for drywall is the Sherwin-Williams ProMar 200 Interior Latex Primer, a PVA primer that he says is great at hiding flaws to give a smooth surface. Touch-ups are easy, too, he notes.
13 Οκτ 2019 · Drywall primer is a PVA primer (Polyvinyl Acrylic) that seals the pores in new drywall and creates an even surface for new paint. Drywall primer allows you to apply fewer topcoats and helps your topcoat look even and true.
15 Φεβ 2017 · I mostly use Sherwin Williams PVA primer for new drywall and texture. Usually spray and backroll but could always cut and roll. It does a real good job of filling all those new texture micro holes. Also does a real good job softening the look of the texture, makes it look more natural.
12 Φεβ 2024 · PVA primer is intended to seal the pores in porous surfaces, so they’re ready to accept paint. When you use PVA primer, it turns the porous surface into a paintable one, allowing you to paint it with fewer coats and resulting in a more even finish when the paint is dry.

Even the 2nd coat of paint over 2 coats of PVA absorbed in and dried fast. 2) Gardz sealed best - better than 123, but by the 2nd coat of paint the difference was negligible. 3) 123 had a slight advantage in hiding texture variations and light sanding scratches.
30 Αυγ 2020 · Drywall Primer, a PVA (polyvinyl acetate) coating, is my go-to for priming and sealing brand-new drywall. Don't paint right over your new walls without priming them first. Bare drywall is very chalky and porous. Painting directly over that will result in an uneven and rough paint finish.
