ANIMALS & PETS. The Department of Animal Care and Control is one of the largest and most progressive animal control agencies in the United States. Its six animal care centers serve unincorporated Los Angeles County and 49 contract cities with a combined total population of over 3 million residents.
Animal care centers are located in Downey, Carson/Gardena, Baldwin Park, Lancaster, Palmdale, Castaic, and Agoura. Each care center is open to the public seven days a week, except for federal holidays.
