  1. L5 S1 fusion is major surgery whereby the L5/S1 disc is removed and the L5 and S1 spinal bones are stabilized by hardware. Indications for L5 S1 fusion are debilitating pain and dysfunction arising from degenerative disc disease, slipped disc, fractures, recurrent herniation, sciatica, scoliosis, and spinal canal narrowing.

  2. 4 Μαρ 2020 · The novel stand-alone Idys-ALIF system with anterior plate fixation for fusion of L5S1 is capable of improving global and segmental LL, offers high fusion rates and minimal complications. In addition, L5S1 fusion results in a change in the pelvic parameters postoperatively.

  3. 2 Σεπ 2017 · ALIF is particularly useful for procedures at the L4/L5 & L5/S1 level as it allows excellent visualization and access to ventral surface of the disc space. The ALIF approach has demonstrated high fusion rates, good radiological outcomes, good restoration of disc height & lordosis, and also a reduced risk for dural injuries ( 3 , 7 , 8 ).

  4. 12 Ιουν 2023 · The most common operative level in the study population was L5-S1, accounting for 80.2% of all surgeries; this included L5-S1 single-level surgery (49.9% of total) and two-level surgery extending to include L4–L5 (30.3% of total, Table 1).

  5. 1 Ιαν 1992 · Objective: To determine the fusion rate of an anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF), transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF), and axial arthrodesis at the lumbosacral junction in adult patients undergoing surgery for 1- and 2-level degenerative spine conditions.

  6. We aimed to systematically review the literature to analyze the differences in posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF), anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF), and transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF), focusing on the complications, risk factors, and fusion rate of each approach.

  7. 30 Δεκ 2020 · The surgical treatment of degenerative disc disease at L5-S1 with minimally invasive technique Axialif showed good radiographic and clinical outcomes with an acceptable rate of complications. Moreover, shorter hospitalization and faster functional recovery are adding factors to choice this technique. ( www.actabiomedica.it)
