Fret distance = scale length * (1 - (2^(-n/12))) In this formula: Fret distance is the distance from the nut (the zero fret) to the desired fret position. Scale length is the vibrating length of the strings, typically measured from the nut to the bridge saddles.
Using the fret calculator is easy: 1) Enter the scale length. If you want fret distances in inches enter your scale length in inches. Enter the scale length in millimeters if you need millimeters. 2) Enter the number of frets.
To calculate the position of each fret, we can use the "12th root of 2" formula. It calculates the ratio between the length of the string between the nut and a given fret, and the length of the entire string (scale length).
