Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Online Course. If you will have direct contact with children, the University recommends that you are trained on the protection of children through the online program at www.reportabusepa.pitt.edu.
Mandated and Permissive Reporting in Pennsylvania. This free three-hour online course provides information on the recognition of child maltreatment, the obligation or opportunity to report child maltreatment, and the procedures for making a report of child maltreatment.
Department of Human Services (DHS) Child Abuse History Required by Act 151 and by Act 114 of 2006, as amended, for all prospective employees of public schools, private schools and their contractors' employees who will work in direct contact with children.
These new laws expand and further define mandated reporters and the reporting process, increase penalties for those mandated to report suspected child abuse who fail to do so, and provide protections from employment discrimination for filing a good faith report of child abuse.
The University of Pittsburgh's Child Welfare Resource Center to develop a free, web-based training. This training is approved in accordance with Act 126 of 2012 and Act 31 of 2104, for mandated and permissive reporters.
