Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common pediatric malignancy. Advancements in technology that enhance our understanding of the biology of the disease, risk-adapted therapy, and enhanced supportive care have contributed to improved survival rates.
Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia develops in both children and adults, with a peak incidence between 1 year and 4 years. Most acute lymphoblastic leukaemia arises in healthy individuals, and predisposing factors such as inherited genetic susceptibility or environmental exposure have been identified in only a few patients.
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), sometimes called acute lymphocytic leukemia, is the most common form of leukemia found in children, accounting for about 30 percent of all pediatric cancers. There are about 3,000 cases of ALL in children and youth up to age 21 each year in the United States.
