The University of Iowa PA Program has specific prerequisite course requirements in the Biological, Chemical and Statistical Sciences. A list of the prerequisite courses can be found at our Prerequisite Course Requirements webpage.
Students can apply to over 254 ARC-PA accredited PA programs, including the UI PA Program, by completing their initial application through the web-based Central Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA).Programs not requiring CASPA will accept applications directly to their schools.
Admission is to the MPAS program is very competitive. Each year, only 25 students are admitted to the 28-month program. The program looks at the following admission criteria: academic performance, health care experience, interpersonal communication skills, knowledge of the PA role and profession, and supporting documents.
University of Iowa offers 2 Physician Assistant degree programs. It's a very large, public, four-year university in a small city. In 2022, 48 Physician Assistant students graduated with students earning 24 Certificates, and 24 Master's degrees.
