One of the most visited sites on Aegina is the church of miracle healer Agios Nektarios (Saint Nectarios) and the monastery of Agia Triada (The Holy Trinity) that is located on a higher level overlooking the church.
It is located near the village Kontos, opposite to the hill of Palaiochora (i.e. the medieval Aegina), just 6 km from the port. At the same place, during the Byzantine Empire, there was another monastery, dedicated to the Life Giving Spring, where Saint Athanasia led an ascetic life.

The Holy Monastery of Holy Trinity - Saint Nektarios is located in Aegina, in the area of Xantos, near the village of Kontos. Access to the monastery can be done either by car, bus or taxi, as it is only 6 km from the port.
Today 14 nuns live in the Monastery of Agios Nektarios. Close to the Monastery, there is an imposing church, dedicated to the Saint. The church has two high bell towers and four series of windows, all covered with red bows. Following the steps up, you reach the church of the Holy Trinity.
