We used the PEO question formatting tool to frame the research question as follows: (P)opulation: student nurses, (E)xposure: Ageism, (O)utcome: Perception and attitudes of ageism.
Dismantling ageism in healthcare, in hospitals, and specifically in acute and critical care nursing might feel insurmountable. In reality, we have many resources and allies. Why not consider these options for action in your own nursing practice and share them at your unit's next staff meeting?

This article provided an overview of the fundamental nature of ageism in nursing in health care settings and introduced a new definition for ageism in nursing that included all the defining attributes of the concept.
