While this is great, I just tested the opentrack+smoothtrack solution, which works perfectly. Will cost you $10-$12 on the Google or IOS store though for smoothtrack. In a nutshell, you turn your phone into a networked head tracker (smoothtrack), sending the info via udp to opentrack.
We've seen one solution so far that involves pairing a paid smartphone app with OpenTrack (one of these free open source headtracking solutions), but if you already have a webcam, even one built into a laptop, you can use OpenTrack with a different piece of input software: AITrack, which is free to use.
I want to use head tracking and instead of buying irtrack I can instead use my webcam with these 2 softwares but I’ve heard opentrack contains a trojan. Is this just someone getting a false positive or is it true?
30 Αυγ 2020 · I’ve found the PS3 Eye Toy camera to be far superior to the other webcams for head tracking, picked one up from eBay. Latest version of OpenTrack includes a PS3 Eye Toy Camera driver. AiTrack. Works by tracking your face so you don’t need to wear a hat, LEDs and so on. It’s like magic!

26 Απρ 2021 · To be fair, though, TrackIR is still considered to be superior in its accuracy and smoothness but AITrack and OpenTrack trumps it in one critical area: it's free. The two programs work in conjunction with each other and, yes, it does eat a bit of your CPU but not as much as you might think.
If you already have a Webcam you can instead use the free OpenTrack head tracker. It may not track as smooth as TrackIR but hey – it’s free! This guide will help you install OpenTrack and get it setup for Elite Dangerous, DCS World and any other space- or flight-sim that supports head tracking.
