Today, the Squadron Officer School in-residence program is an immersive educational experience for US Air Force and US Space Force active duty, guard, and reserve captains, civilians, and international officers.
As an Air Force program, SOS DL seeks to provide an “air-minded” curriculum that prepares graduates for greater responsibilities at the squadron level while also building critical thinking skills in the application of airpower for national security goals and objectives.
Squadron Officer School is a mandatory school for every captain that wants to make major. It's literally the only PME that every officer goes to regardless of their AFSC. I'm prior-active duty Army and have been in the Air National Guard for three years now, so this was an interesting taste of the greater Air Force beyond my unit and career field.
