Stability is an aircraft's ability to maintain/return to its original flight path. Allows aircraft to maintain uniform flight conditions, recover from disturbances, and minimize pilot workload. Aircraft are designed with positive aircraft static stability to support aircraft dynamic stability.

26 Μαρ 2015 · Stable aircraft, like Cessna and Piper training aircraft, are built to be statically and dynamically stable, making them easy to trim and fly 'hands off'. However, jets like the F-16, are built to be unstable, making them highly maneuverable and easy to pitch, roll and yaw aggressively.
Know about how to assess aircraft stability and control characteristics. Understand what is meant by aircraft handling qualities assessments.
Example: Aircraft dynamics • longitudinal aircraft dynamics • wind gust & control inputs • linearized dynamics • steady-state analysis • eigenvalues & modes • impulse matrices 14–1
18 Σεπ 2003 · Stability and Control • Performance topics deal with forces and translational motion needed to fulfill the aircraft mission • Stability and control topics deal with moments and rotational motion needed for the aircraft to remain controllable.
Static stability is all about the initial tendency of a body to return to its equilibrium state after being disturbed. To have a statically stable equilibrium point, the vehicle must develop a restoring force/moment to bring it back to the eq. condition.
