This variant has a yellow block on the face with COMBAT SMATCHET inside it in black letters. It also has a few inches on either side of serrations. Marked seki Japan, AL MAR and the chop and has the acid etch rex applegate & W Fairbairn mark on the opposite face.

In many ways the modern recreations of the Smatchet are superior to the WW-II originals. Quality commercial Smatchet were made by Boker and Al Mar. Custom ones were at one time available from Col Rex Applegate himself. They were made by Bill Harsey.
