Fresh Homer fishing reports from August 2024. Top catches, weather conditions and the most productive spots.
The Division of Sport Fish collects data on the recreational bottomfish harvest landed in Homer and on the beaches at Anchor Point and Deep Creek. Fishery technicians interview returning anglers and sample halibut, rockfish, and sharks for length, weight, sex, and age.
Surf Fishing. Surf fishing at the tip of the Homer spit has provided anglers a variety of groundfish including halibut, sculpins, skates, sharks, flounders, and cod. Local Lakes. The Homer Reservoir (located on Skyline Drive) is a great place to take catch Dolly Varden. The fish are small, but can be fun to catch.

Initially, he planned to land a big halibut with O’Fish’ial Charters of Alaska, but bad weather grounded that plan.
