The Law Enforcement Academy at Southeast Missouri State University is dedicated to meeting the training needs of all law enforcement officers and agencies in the University service area.
Students in the Law Enforcement Academy will spend 22 weeks learning the basics of law enforcement including evidence gathering, investigation and criminal law, traffic control, patrol procedures, defensive driving techniques, and weaponry training based on requirements of Missouri's Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.).
The Law Enforcement Academy offers a full-time, 700+ hour, weekday class. We no longer offer a part-time weekend class. Classes begin twice per year in January and August and meet for 18 weeks. Both meet Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Classes are held at our Cape Girardeau campus.
This course is 8 hours and costs $50. It is held at the Law Enforcement Academy at 122 S. Ellis St., Cape Girardeau, Mo. This course addresses the current laws dealing with juveniles and juvenile courts in criminal matters.
