It is a lifelong address for all students and alumni of UBC. "alumni" data is personal and is managed as the user sees fit.

UBC Alumni Email Address. As an alum, you are able to retain access to your mailbox but you may lose access to other services such as MS Teams and OneDrive. The Student & Alumni Email service that offers name@alumni.ubc.ca hosted mailboxes and email forwarding is being replaced. Starting on August 17, 2020 , UBC Students will be able to opt in to a new email service that includes a hosted mailbox and a new email address ( cwl@student.ubc.ca ).
To access email via the web, Auburn alumni should visit outlook.com/tigermail.auburn.edu (shortcut is aub.ie/alumniemail). Microsoft MFA is required for alumni email multi-factor authentication. Visit the MFA for Alumni and Retirees article for Microsoft MFA instructions.
Once you become an Alumni (following the three-semester grace period after graduation), you will transition and use outlook.com/tigermail.auburn.edu to check your email and Microsoft’s multi-factor authentication (MFA) to authenticate.
