Socket 940 is a 940-pin socket for 64-bit AMD Opteron server processors and AMD Athlon 64 FX consumer processors. It was one of the first sockets designed for AMD's AMD64 range of processors. This socket is entirely square in shape and pins are arranged in a grid with the exception of four key pins used to align the processor and the corners.
17 Μαΐ 2023 · Some processors may support fewer, and some motherboards may use alternative functions of these pins. ↑ This socket has graphics interfaces (DisplayPort, HDMI, VGA, etc.) to accommodate Accelerated Processing Units i.e. processors with integrated graphics.
Powered by nForce TM 3 platform processors, GA-K8NNXP-940 supports the brand new 8 th generation AMD Athlon TM 64 processor to deliver a high performance platform with dual support for 32-bit applications and increasing 64-bit computing needs.
Introduced in April 2003 for Opteron CPU family, the socket was later used by first high-performance Athlon 64 FX CPUs, and then by dual-core Opterons. The socket supports dual-channel DDR SDRAM memory controller and three 800 MHz HyperTransport links.
