6 Ιαν 2021 · When one thinks about the mid to late 19th century here in the United States, you cannot do so without mentioning the beautiful and immoral 1874 Shiloh Sharps rifle chambered in 45-70 caliber.
Teamed with special tang-mounted adjustable sights, such as the Creedmoor, the .45-70 Sharps became a hard-hitting long-range weapon capable of accurately striking targets up to 1,000 yards downrange. That made the 1874 Sharps ideal for hunting buffalo and other large game.
Our Assessment: This IAB manufactured Sharps rifle is a single-shot double-set trigger lever actuated falling block rifle chambered for .45-70 Gov. cartridges. The rifle pays homage to the classic sharps rifle, named after its inventor Christian Sharps.

Among the Sharps 1874 models you can find the Sporting model with octagonal blued barrel, adjustable front sight and double set trigger. The Infantry and Cavalry models have a fixed front sight and round barrel retained by steel bands.
The military Sharps rifle was produced by the Sharps Rifle Manufacturing Company and is a falling-block rifle used during and after the American Civil War in multiple variations. Along with being able to use a standard percussion cap, the Sharps has an unusual pellet primer feed.
